BYD Unveils the All-Terrain Circuit
BYD continues to raise the bar in the new energy vehicle industry with the launch of the BYD All-Terrain Circuit Zhengzhou, a comprehensive vehicle testing facility designed for both on-road and off-road driving. This circuit serves as the “backyard test ground” of BYD, a global electric vehicle brand ranked among the world’s top five by sales, and is one of the first testing facilities in China purpose-built specifically for new energy vehicles.
The All-Terrain Circuit Zhengzhou was developed to simulate real-world driving conditions in every possible scenario—from everyday road use and high-speed circuit driving to demanding off-road environments that push suspension systems, drivetrains, and vehicle control to their limits. The circuit reflects BYD’s core philosophy of “Technology for Everyone,” a principle that has helped its electric vehicles gain widespread adoption, including in the growing electric car rental market.
Within the facility, a wide range of testing zones are integrated into a single location. These include a large open area for slalom driving, dedicated off-road tracks, a water pool for deep-water fording tests, sand dune sections, and advanced safety technology testing areas. A major highlight of the facility is the high-speed handling circuit, engineered specifically for performance testing. The track stretches approximately 1.7 kilometers and features nine corners along with a straight section exceeding 550 meters. The smooth track surface is designed to replicate Formula 1–style circuits, allowing engineers to evaluate tire grip, braking performance, chassis stability, and overall vehicle dynamics. The circuit is also used for professional driver training and for pushing high-performance models such as the Yangwang U9 to their full potential.
