When did it open?

BTS Skytrain system was opened on 5 December 1999 within 2 lines as Sukhumvit Line (Light Green Line) and Silom Line (Dark Green Line). It had started from Mo Chit to On-nut and National Stadium to Saphan Taksin (Taksin Bridge). They can solve problems with traffic jams very well from many residents to work and go back home between Bangkok's uptown and Bangkok's downtown.


BTS in Bangkok: Sukhumvit Line Stations

It has been opened on 5 December 1999. There are 40 stations for this light green line. It starts from Wat Phra Sri Mahathat to Kheha. It covers 2 cities as Bangkok (Wat Phra Sri Mahathat to Bearing) and Samut Prakan (Samrong to Kheha). You can change the other line at Siam which is the center point for this line.

There are 4 transit stations to other lines as MRT Subway Line and Airport Rail Link such as

  • Ha Yaek Lat Phrao x MRT Phahon Yothin
  • Mo Chit x MRT Chatuchak Park
  • Phayathai x Airport Rail Link to Suvarnabhumi International Airport
  • Asok x MRT Sukhumvit 


BTS in Bangkok: Silom Line Stations

It has been opened on 5 December 1999 as same as Sukhumvit Line. There are 13 stations for this dark green line. It starts from Supachalasai National Stadium to Bangwa. You can go to the next side of Bangkok easily. There are two sides of Bangkok as both as Phranakhon (Bangkok's Right area) and Thonburi (Bangkok's Left area) which are divided by the Chao Phraya River.

This line is a great choice for the people from the Thonburi side to the Phranakhon side. You can change the other line at Siam which is the center point for this line. There are 3 transit stations to interchange with the other lines as MRT Aerial-Under Line and Chao Phraya Express Boat such as

  • Sala Daeng x MRT Silom
  • Bangwa x MRT Bangwa
  • Saphan Taksin x Chao Phraya Express Boat at Sathorn Pier 

BTS in Bangkok: Fare Rates

You can use the Single Journey Card. This ticket is valid for a single journey, with fare according to the chosen destination (Starting at 16 Baht, up to 44 Baht per journey that they show about some price rates on the vending machine). However, there are many BTS Skytrain officers, who can speak English basically, to help you at all stations that you can trust easily.
