Best attractions in Ubon Ratchathani

1. ALEXANDER Film Location

It's located near Mun River on bypass route 231 that it used to be the film location for the big movie "Alexander" in 2004, which starred Colin Farrell, Angelina Jolie, Val Kilmer and Anthony Hopkins, until they renovated it to be the museum for seeing the film-maker equipment for this movie such as Clothes, weapons and the story for this location by the guide.

2. Pha Taem Cliff

It's located inside Pha Taem National Park where there is a wide plateau beside the Mekong River that comes from Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, and Amnat Charoen. You can see the view on the opposite side, that is Laos's area' and the art on the rock around the cliff. Moreover, you can see the first rising sun in Thailand that which depends on the time of dawn every morning.

To get to go to this area, you should drive to the eastern side of Highway 217 to Amphoe Phibun Mangsahan, then turn left and turn right onto Highway 2222 and drive along to Amphoe Khong Chiam. Then turn left onto Highway 2134. Finally, turn right onto Highway 2112 and Highway 2368 to Pha Taem in 5 kilometers.

3. Two-Color River View Point in Khong Chiam

It's located in Wat Khong Chiam, which is from the Mun River Estuary to Mae Khong River and this is the last border area between Thailand and Laos PDR. You can see the river colors that are clearly different as the Blue for Mun River and the Brown for Mae Khong River.

To get to go to this area, you should drive to the eastern side of Highway 217 to Amphoe Phibun Mangsahan, then turn left and turn right onto Highway 2222 and drive along to Amphoe Khong Chiam. Finally, turn right in the district and turn the first left at Talad Khong Chiam T-junction at Ban Dan School to Wat Khong Chiam easily.
